Kat Malone Teacher of the Year

Success High School is pleased to announce the selection of English Language Arts Teacher, Kat Malone, for Teacher of the Year! 

Mrs.Malone was selected by teachers and staff at Success High School. An outstanding teacher and advocate for students, she works with students to ensure they learn to the best of their abilities. She helps students succeed in course completion and graduation. Mrs. Malone is instrumental in developing alternative assignments for students seeking to go beyond the online course content offered at Success High School. Students at Success High School respect her for all her efforts. 

Mrs. Malone is the department chair for the English Language Arts department. Her leadership goes beyond her department to the entire school where she voluntarily serves on committees. She is a mentor to faculty seeking solutions to problems. She advocates for our campus with the district, region and state, especially with college and career readiness standards. Mrs. Malone is a great and caring colleague — taking time to get to know her colleagues and help them.

Mrs. Malone has been teaching for 12 years. She has been a teacher at Success High School for 6 years. Mrs. Malone taught in an inner city school in Baltimore, MD for 4 years. She began her teaching career at a school for teen moms in Louisville, KY. When asked why she teaches, Mrs. Malone said “because I love it and can’t imagine doing anything else.”
