On Wednesday Dec. 4th, students at Success High School will begin using the SMART Tag system for boarding and unboarding of school buses.

The SMART Tag system wirelessly transmits information to the District transportation department, including the location of each bus, the names of the students onboard each bus and notification of an approaching bus.

First and foremost, the way students load and unload buses will be changing. Students eligible for transportation will be issued a SMART Tag ID card, which they will scan each time they load and unload the bus going to and from school. No personal identifying information is stored on the badge; only the student’s name and associated barcode will be printed on the ID badge.

Parents of bus riders can login to the SMART Tag parent portal to set up SMART Alert text notifications when and where your student gets on and off the bus.

At school and on the bus, your student will receive training on how to efficiently and effectively use SMART Tag to maximize safety and minimize delays.

Riders will be issued their first SMART Tag ID card free of charge and provided instruction on Wednesday, December 4. Visit the SMART Tag web page to learn more about the SMART Tag system, ID cards and parent portal.

We are pleased to be able to offer SMART Tag’s bus safety management system to our student bus riders. If you have questions regarding the SMART Tag system, please access Frequently Asked Questions or contact Transportation at (512) 428-2450.
