Andrew Barba Teacher of the Year

Success High School staff has selected English Language Arts and English as a Second Language teacher Andrew Barba as Teacher of the Year. Mr. Barba teaches ELL students in grades 9 through 12. Mr. Barba received his degree in English Literature and Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. He has been a teacher in Round Rock for 5 years. He taught 8th grade Language Arts at Cedar Valley Middle School before moving to Success High School.

Mr. Barba is known for his passion and excitement in the classroom. He is proud of his students and is always ready to share his experiences and successes with students in the classroom. He enjoys watching his students grow and gain skills and knowledge. He is constantly changing his approach in the classroom to meet the needs of his students, which are constantly changing. He truly takes the time to get to know each of his students, both personally and academically. Mr. Barba’s students will tell you that he is always there to answer questions and to help – especially with writing. They like that he is funny and makes them feel good about themselves as learners. Mr. Barba is also a great team member who comes to the table with ideas ready to support the others on his team.

When asked what it meant to be named Teacher of the Year, Mr. Barba had the following comment. “It is a great honor to be named teacher of the year here at Success High School. I am proud because Success has many superb, experienced, and deserving teachers. Our amazing administration makes each of our jobs extremely easy. The amount of overall support given to the education of our students is extraordinary. Success is not just the literal name of our school; it is also a description of our culture and attitude. This place makes me a better person and teacher.”
