Success High School was recently awarded a $3,500 grant from the Synopsis Company. Mrs. Karen Greenberg made the initial contact with the company to get the grant information, and the plan was begun. Data shows that students have difficulty grasping the concept of proportional reasoning in mathematics, so Jerrod Gertsema wrote a grant proposal to purchase a 3-dimensional printer. This printer will be utilized for students to connect the concept of proportional reasoning, similar figures, and scaling to real-world applications of design and modeling. Students will work through elective courses in conjunction with mathematics to create their scaled designs with accurate measurements. This printer will allow students to see the final step of constructing a scale model of a design, which will provide real-world applications of challenging math concepts. Thank you to Mrs.Greenberg and Synopsis for the opportunity to enhance the educational program at Success High School.

The 9th grade class was privileged to have one of the few survivors of the Holocaust, Anna Rado, tell her personal story while they attended a field trip to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in San Antonio. Mrs. Rado left the students with a very powerful message of hope, perseverance, anti-bullying, and no place for hate.
